Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff and the Chief Executive Officer, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of Animas Internal Medicine and Animas Surgical Hospital. Provides in-patient consultation and direct in-patient care to hospital patients in collaboration with the patients attending physician. He/she also provides services in an out-patient clinic designed to provide consultation and problem oriented care to hospital patients, this may include pre-surgical H&P's and post surgical follow up.
Essential Job Functions to include but not limited to:
- Examines, diagnoses and treats patients of all ages in out-patient clinic
- Supervises medical assistants and other personnel specific to clinic focused services
- Available to participate in providing continuity of care including in-patient management
- Acts as primary consultant on all surgical cases referred by other ASH staff providers
- Available to provide Pre-surgical history and physical exams
- Provides in-service training for clinic and hospital staff in selected topics, from time to time
- Assists in internal quality assurance measures for clinic and hospital
- Effectively manages resources
- Develops and reviews policy and procedure for both out-patient clinic and in-patient services which may require his/her services
- Applies for and obtains staff privileges at other hospitals in the area
- Participates in on-call duties for in-patients
- Attends meetings and participates in committees as necessary or required.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements
MD or DO with current experience in internal medicine.
Valid and unrestricted Colorado Medical License
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to fifty (50) pounds and sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment and computer. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time.
Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures
Exposure to environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infections/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary. Will be required to be available for call shifts at nights and on weekends and holidays.
